Canton adopts 2026–27 budget with 3% employee COLA and no tax or fee increases

Alderman Hamlett made the motion to adopt the budget, and Alderman Shepherd seconded; all members present voted in favor. The board indicated the adjustments were achieved with internal prioritization and without raising property taxes.
The board’s approvals included the formal Budget Ordinance and the Schedule of Fees for 2026–2027. The minutes record that the budget highlights and amendments were presented by Assistant Manager Walker and that motions to approve the ordinance, fees schedule, and amendments carried by unanimous vote. No public comments were recorded during the meeting.
