Lismore agrees to be applicant for state cleanup grant to clear former New Vision site for local business

The City of Lismore City Council voted Feb. 10 to assist two residents in applying for a State grant to pay for demolition and cleanup of the former New Vision building, a site the applicants said needs specialized handling because New Vision previously worked with chemicals.
Guest Brandon Diekmann told the council that he and his cousin Scott run a growing 3D printing business and seek the site to expand. Brandon said Scott had consulted the State and was told the City would need to be the applicant; Sc—ott and Brandon would provide matching funds before any city payment would be made. After discussion about liability and process, the council on a motion by Ryan Schieck seconded by Austin Garms approved working with Scott and Brandon to submit the application; Amber Bertrand, City Clerk, will email the completed application to the State.
Council members also reviewed community events planned by the Booster Club for Lismores 125th celebration. Brandon outlined road-closure needs and logistics and said the club does not expect the City to provide funding; Amber will coordinate any city tasks and check insurance and liability coverage. The Booster Club also plans to defer a park equipment purchase until 2026 because of the celebration schedule in 2025.
Separately, the council noted that Davi Bullerman has posted a parcel of land for sale and will place signage when weather allows. The meeting adjourned after routine business.
The council will meet next on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
