Lismore council approves leased tractor and identifies maintenance priorities

The City of Lismore City Council voted Feb. 10 to lease a tractor through Titan Machinery to support fall and winter maintenance, after reviewing competing quotes and discussing immediate maintenance priorities.

During the maintenance report, Josh said the council had received bids from New Tec, John Deere and Kubota for leasing a tractor. Titan Machinerys offer was the lowest at $52.50 per hour with a 100-hour minimum; adding a snow pusher would raise the minimum cost to about $6,000. John Deeres quote was $60 per hour without a pusher, and the Kubota option was limited to a three-month lease. On a motion by Tory Bohlke seconded by Ryan Schieck, the council approved the Titan lease.

The decision was paired with several operational items. Council agreed to relocate spring toys that are currently on the sand volleyball court; Josh and guest Brandon Diekmann will work together to identify a new placement. Josh said he has discussed piggybacking on the countys chip-seal project and is awaiting county bid figures; council members were asked to identify town streets they consider highest priority for resurfacing and bring those suggestions to the next meeting.

The council also reviewed a developing maintenance need at the Fire Hall. Amber Bertrand, City Clerk, said the heating pipes are starting to rust through in spots and that the City General Fund—not fire-department funds—would cover replacement or repair. Matt Kirchner agreed to inspect the system and provide quotes; no repairs were authorized pending cost estimates.

Other operational items noted during the meeting included Joshs plan to attend the annual water/wastewater conference March 4— and to attempt the wastewater examination, and the formal approval of routine financial items earlier in the meeting.

The council adjourned after routine closing business. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
