The Jaffrey Select Board reviewed a draft of its Operational Guidelines at the May 13 meeting and agreed to return the document for revision and ratification.
Selectman Andrew Lawn told colleagues that residents should understand the board’s nonpartisan stance on political issues. Selectman Franklin W. Sterling Jr. said the Code of Ethics section’s current wording could leave gaps and recommended replacing it with a concise statement affirming the integrity of the board and town. Chairman Charles Turcotte suggested the phrase "Code of Standards" as a possible alternative. Turcotte will forward proposed edits to Town Manager Jon Frederick for consideration at the board’s May 27 meeting.
No formal action to adopt the guidelines was recorded; the item was placed on the agenda for further discussion and a future ratification vote.
