Assistant City Manager Powell said the change would allow an engineer to provide regular stormwater‑infrastructure plan review and inspection for projects that will become public infrastructure, such as sidewalks and roads.
Board members said the hourly rates and modest increases appear reasonable. Commissioners asked whether the additional costs can be recovered through fees and permitting; staff said fee structures will be reviewed as part of the upcoming budget process and that the city typically seeks to align permit fee schedules to recover reasonable inspection expenses. The board set the amendment for a vote at the March 25 regular meeting.
Staff characterized the amendment as a formalization of services the city already pays for on an ad‑hoc basis and said adding a dedicated engineer on the contract will improve consistency and availability for project reviews and inspections.
