At its Oct. 15 meeting the Lynd City Council handled routine municipal business, approving minutes, bills, departmental reports and continuing review of the 2025 budget.
Key approvals (all unanimous unless noted): the council approved the Sept. 17 minutes with a correction; closed a public hearing on ordinance review; approved accounts payable for October 2024 and the September financial reports; accepted the fire department report after Chief Dillon Schultz described recent calls, completed truck repairs and two new Firefighter I/II certifications; and approved the public works report noting completed storm-drain work at Affinity Hills and pond-structure assistance from Mn Rural Water.
Clerk/Treasurer Sue Paradis reported a September water-loss ratio of 3% (the city billed residents for 671,811 gallons while LPRW billed the city for 690,000 gallons). Paradis also began transition to Banyon utility software and noted Lynd’s new municipal website was added to September bills with a prompt for residents to sign up for text alerts.
City Attorney John Engels reviewed the draft ordinance and updated city code, which the council adopted. The council also received a Lyon County letter about a landfill fee increase and continued review of the Safe Routes to School Boost Grant with no update. The council set no final levy decisions at this meeting and will continue budget review before the Dec. 27 deadline.
The meeting concluded after councilmember reports and a unanimous motion to adjourn.
