Newfolden council approves $63,911 Community Center roof, switches utility billing to Ion Data Systems

The Newfolden City Council on March 16 approved a $63,911.95 contract to replace the roof at the Newfolden Community Center and voted to switch the city’s utility billing vendor to Ion Data Systems.
Councilmember Melissa Bjorgaard moved to accept Northwest Roofing Inc.’s revised estimate of $63,911.95 for the Community Center roof; Councilmember Darin Jacobson seconded and the motion carried, according to the meeting minutes. The minutes do not record a roll-call tally, only that the motion was carried.
Councilmember Mark Augustine moved to transition utility billing services from Gworks to Ion Data Systems, with the transition to begin immediately but payment delayed until August. The council committed to a three-year payment agreement of $5,092.00 to cover conversion costs; Councilmember Adam Gast seconded the motion and it carried, the minutes show.
The council also approved several routine items: allowing banners of 2026 graduating seniors to be hung on city light poles; a schedule of June events including city-wide rummage sales (June 6), Spring Clean-Up Week (June 1–7) and a Hazardous Waste Pick-Up (June 2); and the mailing of a late notification to tenant Jaci Pfau about past-due lease and utilities, with a stated intent to issue a 30-day vacate notice if payment in full is not received by the end of March.
Councilmember Mark Augustine moved to approve submitted claims and timesheets; Councilmember Darin Jacobson seconded and the motion carried. The meeting adjourned after a motion from Councilmember Melissa Bjorgaard.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for April 6 at 5:00 PM, to be followed by the Board of Review and Equalization at 6:00 PM.
