The Hobart Sanitary District Board on May 26 completed a first reading of the 2027 budget and approved a consultant scope to redesign connection fees.
Board members discussed replacing the current connection fee structure — which is based on building‑use classifications and has produced complications when uses change — with a System Development Charge (SDC) based on water meter size and incoming flow. The board approved the scope of the Baker Tilly SDC agreement with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $10,000, a motion made by Jim Mandon and seconded by Larry Gutierrez (4-0).
The board reviewed May financials: beginning balance $8,315,866.18, revenues $1,765,455.55, disbursements $1,228,546.71, and an ending balance of $8,852,775.02. The board approved SRF Disbursement #110 for $13,528.00; SRF bond claims and disbursements totaling $226,737.00 (including interest and bond payments of $213,209.00); and the invoice claims list for May totaling $388,192.84. Each motion was recorded as carried unanimously (4-0).
No further general discussion was recorded and the board adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
