Council accepts $4.21 million bid to renovate Spring Lake swim facility

Public Works Director Arnold introduced Jody Dahms of Aquatic Design Solutions, LLC, to present bid results for the Spring Lake Swim Facility improvement project. Dahms said the single bid from Webb Construction Inc. totaled $4,213,950 — roughly $300,000 below the engineer’s estimate and below the $6 million the City budgeted for the project.
Work described in the staff report and by Dahms includes construction of new swim pond peninsulas, a new swim pond liner with soil stabilization, renovations to the recirculation system, installation of artificial turf and a west-side expansion, and a new water play structure. The City budget includes $5 million from the Sales Tax Fund and the remainder from FEMA flood-recovery funds.
Dahms said he is comfortable with Webb Construction as the contractor and will work closely with them during construction. The Council adopted Res. No. 61-26 to accept the bid and proceed; the vote was unanimous.
Next step: City staff will proceed with contract award procedures under Res. No. 61-26 and coordinate construction oversight.
