Lilydale council authorizes payment for sewer televising and orders follow-up inspections

The Lilydale City Council approved payment for sewer televising work and authorized follow-up cleaning and repair quotes after Barr Engineering reported sediment and infiltration in portions of the sanitary system; motions carried unanimously.
The Lilydale City Council on Nov. 12 approved payment to Pipe Services for televising work along the river bluff and the storm drop shaft system and directed staff to obtain quotes for cleaning and repairs at problem locations.
City Engineer Jennifer Koehler of Barr Engineering reported staff completed a storm-sewer inspection on Sept. 4 with no items requiring follow-up for 2024–2025, but televising completed Oct. 29 identified three areas needing additional work. Koehler said the televising invoice totaled $5,980 and moved the council to authorize payment and to request quotes to investigate sediment at two locations.
Koehler also reported infiltration — ground water seeping into the main — at a private connection belonging to The Riverwood apartments and recommended obtaining a quote to seal the connection outside the main pipe. The council authorized requesting a repair quote.
Mayor John Diehl and councilmembers voted 5–0 on the payment authorization and the requests for follow-up quotes. Koehler announced a special meeting on Dec. 2 to address the bluff runoff management plan.
The council’s actions fund immediate follow-up work and set a path for additional evaluation and repair of the sanitary and storm systems; staff will return with contractor quotes and findings at a future meeting.
