Fire and public works report equipment needs and community support

Fire Chief Ryan Goede told the council the department planned to buy about 11 tables (roughly $800) and chairs (about $2,000) for an estimated $3,000 total and requested a hot-water pressure washer quoted at $3,999 plus accessories (about $4,500 total). He said the department has ordered four of five radios and will receive 200 turkeys from Walmart for distribution to those in need and to the food shelf. Goede said Relief Association funds—including pull-tabs and electronic gambling proceeds—provided donations of $3,150 to the Mayer Lutheran mission trip and other community gifts.
Public Works updates from Chris Barlau listed completed crack repairs, new irrigation valve boxes, painted curbs by hydrants and replaced sprinkler heads. Barlau requested a DeWalt grease gun ($229) and shelving materials; the council approved those purchases. Council reviewed three quotes for a used bagger (approx. $2,500) but declined the purchase and directed staff to use the mower’s mulching option instead.
Staff also reported that People Service’s quarterly report was reviewed and that utility software installation and migration will begin; the MPCA sewer extension permit for Schroeder Meats and Lakeland Fiberglass was noted as approved.
