Local lot owner and small businesses press council for building, park and club recognition

At the Nov. 6 meeting Ben Hach told the council he purchased five non-lake lots at Trophy Lakes and has invested significant money in the properties. Hach asked whether he could request a variance to allow wells and septic so he could build immediately and suggested that if Trophy Lakes reverted to the township, wells and septic would be permitted. He asked the council for help finding a solution to build on land he owns and become part of the New Germany community.
Paulette Pellitier of the Mayer Area Lions asked the council to allow the organization to incorporate New Germany into its name and community activities. Pellitier introduced fellow Lion Mark Gutzke and described programs the Lions have supported, including holiday tree lighting, picnic-table donations to the shelter in Mayer, and planter boxes with school children at Zions Lutheran School. She said the Lions do not intend to compete with the Commercial Club.
Brett MacNally of The Fancy Farmer said he is waiting for power to be hooked up and described a vision for improvements at Kilbane Park; he said his attorney will coordinate with the city attorney to develop a plan that benefits all involved. The council recorded these updates; no formal council action on the park or club-name request was recorded in the minutes.
