Cusseta–Chattahoochee commissioners adopt elections board ordinance, approve lease use and routine purchases

The Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 12 adopted a home-rule ordinance to amend the county charter and create a three-member Board of Elections and Registration that will assume responsibilities for elections and voter registration beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
The ordinance cites O.C.G.A. § 21-2-40.1 and sets membership, appointment procedures and term lengths; the charter language included in the packet provides for staggered initial terms and states the board's meetings and procedural authorities. The minutes note the ordinance was adopted on second reading and recorded as a unanimous vote.

A Commercial Lease Agreement included with the minutes describes a lease between the Unified Government (lessor) and the Chattahoochee County Board of Education (lessee). The lease text in the packet sets a base annual payment listed as 3600 (described as reflecting average annual utilities), a start date of Dec. 30, 2025 unless renewed, and standard provisions for insurance, improvements and defaults. Signatures for the county manager and the lessee appear in the attached document. The minutes record approval for the Board of Education to use Old City Hall; they do not specify whether the signed lease will take effect immediately or be executed as part of that motion.
