Resident says she was fined after missing court notice; commission to investigate 911-address and billing concerns

Christine Richards told the Sept. 23 work session she received a court notice dated Aug. 16 and was charged $260; she said she believes she never received a warning because of a 911-address error at her property (her sign shows 145 but her address is 140). Richards said she is on a fixed income and wanted to know where the money went.
Chairman Charles Coffey and County Manager Thomas Weaver told Richards the commission would look into her 911 sign and address; Weaver clarified that judicial fines are set by the courts and that the commission cannot overturn fines imposed by a judge. Commissioner Damon Hoyte asked whether Richards had issues receiving her water bill; Richards said she had. The commission instructed staff to investigate her requests and report back.
