Commissioner Tiffany Taylor moved March 16 that the committee 'pass with no action' on the employee engagement item; Commissioner Melissa Link seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Staff presented results from a recent employee engagement survey showing strengths in workplace culture and respect alongside staff concerns about compensation, benefits and recognition. In response to the survey, the county has implemented pay increases, frozen employee health insurance contributions for three years and completed compensation studies intended to improve equity; staff said recruitment and retention remain ongoing priorities.
Committee members discussed additional ideas such as expanding leave benefits and improving internal communication across departments but did not direct further immediate actions beyond the measures already implemented. The committee recorded the motion to take no additional action and considered the item closed for the meeting.
