Byron council adopts new Public Works fees, unanimously awards FY2025 landscaping contract

Council members in Byron adopted a resolution to update the Public Works Department schedule of fees and unanimously awarded the city’s FY2025 landscaping contract to Paulk Landscaping during a special meeting on Nov. 20, 2024.
Council Member Chris Hodges moved to adopt the resolution updating the Public Works fee schedule; Council Member Alan Dorsey seconded the motion. Those recorded voting in favor were Hodges, Dorsey and Council Member James Richardson; Council Member Rusty Adams voted against the motion. The motion passed. The resolution adopts the attached Exhibit “A” as the Public Works Schedule of Fees and sets the schedule to take effect Nov. 21, 2024. The resolution also states that any fee already set by a City of Byron ordinance will supersede the schedule where applicable.
The landscaping contract for FY2025 was presented immediately afterward. Council Member Alan Dorsey moved to award the landscaping bid to Paulk Landscaping; Council Member Chris Hodges seconded. The council voted unanimously to approve the award.
Mayor Michael Chidester was recorded as absent. City staff listed in the minutes included City Administrator Tiffany Sandefur, Director of Public Works Tiffany Bibb, Police Captain Bryan Hunter and Administrative Assistant Elissa Lee, who signed the minutes as Acting Clerk of Council. The council adjourned at 4:56 p.m., following a motion by Council Member Chris Hodges and a second by Council Member Rusty Adams.
The actions taken at the special meeting are recorded in the official minutes; the new Public Works fee schedule is effective Nov. 21, 2024, and the landscaping contract award is entered as FY2025 procurement activity.
