McIntosh council approves Poplar Meadows claims, two resolutions and calendar; hears occupancy report

The McIntosh City Council on Jan. 8, 2026 approved a series of routine and administrative measures, including $82,145.36 in claims for Poplar Meadows and two resolutions concerning local trail funding and a loan-fund reporting waiver.
Rebecca Boehrnsen, licensed assisted living director for Poplar Meadows, reported that "there are currently 26 residents at Poplar Meadows with two open apartments." Following her report, Councilmember Luke Syverson moved to approve the submitted Poplar Meadows claims in the amount of $82,145.36; Councilmember Mark Simonson seconded the motion, which carried.
The council adopted a resolution to act as the legal sponsor for an application to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for trail maintenance funding for snowmobile trails managed by Polar Beach Snowmobile Club. Councilmembers Simonson, Syverson and Strutz voted in the affirmative; Councilmember Beth Hagen was absent and not recorded as voting.
Councilmembers also adopted a resolution presented by Syverson to waive the annual federal interest service reporting requirement for the city's Revolving Loan Fund under the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The vote was recorded as Simonson, Strutz and Syverson in favor and Hagen absent; the resolution was adopted.
The council authorized a $125 donation to the McIntosh Heritage and Arts Center by motion of Councilmember Syverson, seconded by Simonson, and approved December and January bills totaling $30,428.04 on a motion by Councilmember Adam Strutz, seconded by Syverson. Both motions carried.
The council approved the 2026 meeting dates and commissioner appointments and agreed to a joint meeting with area townships on Feb. 11, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the McIntosh Fire Hall. With no further business, Councilmember Syverson moved to adjourn at 6:14 p.m.; the motion, seconded by Simonson, carried. The next regular council meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2026.
