Byron council approves fleet purchase, contracts, leases and road safety changes

At its Nov. 11 meeting, the Byron Mayor and Council unanimously approved a package of routine municipal actions including a police passenger-van purchase, website and chat‑bot service renewals, several lease and license agreements, an LMIG grant application (with SPLOST match), and approval to install an all‑way stop at Moseley Road and Hwy 42.
The City of Byron Mayor and Council unanimously approved a series of routine contracts, purchases and operational items during their Nov. 11 meeting.
Council Member Chris Hodges moved and Council Member Michael Chumbley seconded approval of the purchase of a 2024 Chevy Express 2500 passenger van for the Byron Police Department; the motion passed unanimously. The council also approved an automatic renewal with 365 Degrees Total Marketing for city website hosting, and authorized a subscription with Citibot, Inc. to provide a website chat‑box customer service tool. All three motions were recorded as unanimous.
On facilities and community partnerships, the council authorized the mayor to execute a lease with the Byron Warehouse Group and separately approved a rental agreement with the Al‑Anon Group; both motions were unanimous. The council also authorized a license agreement with Mule Creek in substantially the same form as the attached exhibit.
Infrastructure and grants were addressed: the council authorized submittal of the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) FY2025 application and approved use of a 30% match from the streets SPLOST account, and it approved a covenant to annex property at 700 Jones Road at the request of the property owner to obtain city water service. Additionally, the council approved a letter from the mayor supporting placement of an all‑way stop at Moseley Road and Highway 42 following a Georgia Department of Transportation traffic study recommendation.
