Finance committee agrees to seek $289,477.90 in transfers to cover Special Education increases

Raymond Dolphin, a committee member, reviewed the year-to-date budget and told colleagues that Special Education expenses are higher than earlier projections. Dolphin said the district is under a budget freeze but that current projections indicate the fiscal year is expected to close on budget after the proposed transfers are made.
Dolphin explained there were 16 budget transfers since the last report and that eight of those transfers exceeded $10,000, a threshold that requires formal Board approval. "The committee agreed to request from the Board transfers of $289,477.90," the minutes state.
The committee’s action is a request to the full Board; the minutes record the committee’s agreement but do not include a formal roll-call vote on the request. The Board must review and approve the transfers before they take effect.
The meeting minutes record the approval of the April 8, 2026 minutes earlier in the session and note the committee adjourned at 6:48 p.m. The Finance & Audit Committee’s next regular meeting is scheduled for June 10, 2026.
