The Sigourney City Council voted at a special meeting Monday to schedule a public hearing on the city’s budget estimate for the fiscal year running July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
Council Member Lentz moved to set a Notice of Public Hearing for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. Council Member Clark seconded the motion, which carried on a roll-call vote with six ayes. The council did not record any nays, abstentions or recusals in the minutes.
The short meeting, called to order at 6:15 p.m. and presided over by Mayor Pro Tem Connie McLaughlin, also included formal approval of the tentative agenda (moved by Conrad and seconded by Iosbaker, approved by a 6-0 roll-call vote) and a motion to adjourn (moved by Lentz, seconded by Clark; approved 6-0). City Clerk Ashley Fry was listed as present in the minutes.
The public hearing will give residents an opportunity to review and comment on the budget estimate for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. The council’s minutes show the hearing date, time and location but do not include any details of the budget figures or proposed spending; those specifics are expected to be available with the official notice and budget documents published in advance of the April 16 hearing.
The meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
