Villisca school board approves 2024–25 organizational appointments, banking and vendor bids
Summary
At its July 11 meeting the Villisca Community School Board unanimously approved organizational and routine fiscal items for 2024–25, including personnel appointments, designation of bank depositories, vendor bid awards for milk, bread and fuel, and appointment of an IASB delegate.
President Tom Williams called the Villisca Community School Board to order at 7:00 p.m. July 11 in the district board room. Directors Gourley, Mullen and Williams were present; Superintendent Chris Fenster and Secretary Jessie Forsythe also attended.
The board unanimously approved the meeting agenda, noting the deletion of one staff resignation item, and then approved consent items including the June 2024 minutes and bills presented for payment. After discussion the board voted to approve the June financial report and to file it for audit.
In routine organizational business the board approved personnel and administrative appointments for the 2024–2025 school year. By unanimous vote the board approved Shona Means, Marla McAlpin and Brenda DeVore as mentors; approved the open enrollment of student Bronson Whitehead from Council Bluffs; and designated Bank Iowa (maximum balance $10,000,000) and Bankers Trust (maximum balance $1,000,000) as the district’s financial depository institutions. The board appointed Ahlers and Cooney as district attorney, designated the Adams County Free Press as the official district newspaper, and appointed Chris Fenster as the district’s Affirmative Action Coordinator and Liz Timmerman as the Level I Investigator.
Directors also voted unanimously to approve routine vendor bids for the 2024–25 school year: Anderson Erickson for milk, Bimbo Bakeries for bread, and New Cooperative for gas and fuel supply.
The board approved the appointment of Leland Shipley as the district’s Legislative Action Network member and as the IASB delegate for 2024–25, and adopted the board’s IASB 2025 legislative priorities. Jessie Forsythe was approved as district secretary and treasurer and was administered the Oath of Office by President Tom Williams.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
