The Sigourney City Council met in a special session on March 24, 2025, in the council chambers at City Hall and unanimously approved the tentative agenda before opening and then closing a public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025. Mayor Pro Tem Connie McLaughlin presided.
Council member Conrad moved to approve the tentative agenda, and Council member Lentz seconded; the motion passed with Ayes recorded as McLaughlin, Iosbaker, Lentz, Schultz, Clark and Conrad and Nays: None. Shortly afterward, Council member Conrad moved, with Council member Lentz seconding, to open a public hearing on the "Proposed Property Tax Levy for Fiscal Year July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026." The motion carried unanimously and the hearing was opened at 6:01 p.m.
After the brief hearing period, Council member Lentz moved, seconded by Council member Conrad, to close the public hearing; the motion passed unanimously and the hearing was closed at 6:04 p.m. The council then approved a motion by Lentz, seconded by Conrad, to adjourn the meeting; the session ended at 6:04 p.m.
No public speakers or written comments on the levy are recorded in the minutes. City Clerk Ashley Fry is listed as present and attested to the meeting minutes. The actions taken were procedural: agenda approval, opening and closing the public hearing on the proposed levy, and adjournment.
