Chairman Mike Helman called the Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 3.
The board voted to approve the agenda after Helman asked to add two items — “ARPA Funds under Maintenance” and “Zoom vs Teams under New Business.” Supervisor Ryan Nelson moved to approve the agenda and Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen seconded; the motion was recorded as carried 4-0. Nelson and Geyen later moved and seconded approval of the Nov. 26 meeting minutes and the list of disbursements; both motions were recorded as carried 4-0.
Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen told supervisors that items are still being gathered and submitted to the CPA for the audit and that staff hope the audit can be completed within the next couple of weeks. Paumen said corrections were made to 11 parcels and that fire assessments were submitted to the county. She also reported that, because township payroll exceeded $50,000 over the last four quarters, federal taxes now need to be deposited semi-monthly.
Maintenance staff reported that two employees will attend snowplow training next week and that individuals interested in serving as backup snowplow drivers should submit an application. The planned replacement of the 134th culvert was postponed until spring due to weather, and the township’s 2003 Chevrolet pickup is currently listed on auction.
Under new business, supervisors said they are awaiting responses about extending cooperative agreements; if partners agree, the township will move forward. Employee job descriptions were distributed to supervisors for review and are scheduled to be updated at the next meeting; employee insurance also will be discussed at the next meeting. On meeting platforms, supervisors agreed to continue using Microsoft Teams and to cancel Zoom subscriptions.
The meeting was closed for an employee review. A motion to adjourn was made by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen and seconded by Supervisor Ryan Nelson; the transcript does not record a final vote on the adjournment.
