Congresswoman McCollum's office briefs Oak Park Heights on community project funding guidance

Charlie Hammond, outreach staff from Congresswoman Betty McCollum's St. Paul district office, briefed the Oak Park Heights City Council on Community Project Funding (CPF) process and provided a packet of materials on March 11.
Hammond said members of Congress can sponsor a limited number of one-time funding requests for local projects that do not fit standard federal grant programs. He noted that the office had included a list of projects sponsored since fiscal year 2022 and that formal FY26 guidance from House leadership had not yet been released. "Once FY 2026 is announced ... there will be a short window to apply with our office before the deadline," Hammond said, urging potential applicants to plan ahead and contact the district office with project ideas.
Council members accepted the packet and Hammond offered to share electronic copies and answer questions. There was no council action associated with the briefing.
