Miltona Township accepts treasurer’s report, approves bills and OKs Park Irene tree clearing

Miltona Township accepted the treasurer’s report and approved the payment of bills at its July 1, 2024 regular meeting. Clerk Thomas A. Blank reported total township funds of $845,795.30 (Checking $385,582.75; Money Market $1,002.30; Intrafi $202,852.72; CD $256,357.53). The board approved the treasurer’s report, and then approved bills totaling $117,470.34; both votes were recorded as carried 3–0.
Under old business the board noted Hidden Valley Road work is scheduled to begin in August and that Vermont Access Road had a preconstruction meeting with work expected around Aug. 12. The board tabled action on the vacation portion of Smokey Timbers. Trustees approved tree clearing at Park Irene on a motion by Andy Anderson, seconded by Matt Kugler; Trustee Tom Blank will contact Jim Eckert about potential drainage solutions with neighbors.
Other administrative notes included a Carr Tree Service inquiry about spraying and trimming (no township work this year), a request to remove wild parsnip off N Lake Miltona Drive, and that Attorney Sugden has not yet responded regarding a road vacation. Township officials also said paperwork for a DNR culvert grant had not arrived. The township recessed the July 1 meeting to hold a public hearing on Miltona Bay Road paving on July 8 and reconvened after the hearing to take action on that project.
The township’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Miltona Community Center.
