Transylvania County commissioners approve consent agenda, proclamations and multiple appointments

The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners on June 8 unanimously approved its consent agenda, which included the minutes of the May 26 regular meeting; a proclamation recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States; procurement policy updates to comply with NCDOT Integrated Mobility Division requirements for transit services; out-of-state travel for Communications staff; and the cancellation of two regular summer meetings.
On appointments, the board unanimously appointed Tracie Gant to the Agricultural Advisory Board following Cooperative Extension and advisory board recommendations. The Board reappointed Sarah Justice to the Library Board of Trustees and tabled consideration of an applicant who did not yet meet eligibility requirements. The Board reappointed Kathe Harris and appointed Woodie Dyches to the Regional Council on Aging. Commissioner McKelvey moved to appoint Kathy Klepfer to the Social Services Board effective July 1, 2026; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Chapman and approved unanimously.
Chairwoman Teresa K. McCall read Proclamation #26-2026 recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States and encouraged community participation in celebratory events throughout 2026. No votes failed; all listed motions on the consent agenda and appointments were approved without recorded dissents.
