Bolton town meeting authorizes use of remaining 2017 borrowing funds for Bolton Center School projects

The resolution read in the meeting call stated: “To Authorize the approval of the remaining funds form the 2017 borrowing allocation for the Board of Education projects at the Bolton Center School, according to Section (a)(iv) of the approved resolution of the town meeting on January 25, 2017 for the purposes of the replacement of the cafeteria kitchen stove, energy management system, and lockers, to the extent for the remaining available funds continue to be available for those approved purposes through December 31, 2024.”
Selectman Pamela Z. Sawyer moved the item and Selectman Robert Morra seconded the motion. Resident Jim Aldrich asked why the deadline extension was necessary and what the funds would be used for; Town Meeting Moderator Tom Fiorentino and staff member Mr. Rupert explained that without the extension the unspent funds would revert to the town’s general account and reiterated the three listed purposes for the authorization. When another resident, Mr. Skrainski, asked for the dollar amount that would be spent, Mr. Rupert said Superintendent Kristin Hecht had provided a figure of $167,208 to him by email.
After brief discussion, a motion to move the question was made and the assembly voted to approve the resolution (the transcript records only “motion passed,” without a roll-call or recorded tally). With no further business, Pamela Sawyer moved and Robert Morra seconded to adjourn; the meeting adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
