University Heights council approves $1.5 million bond and advances two ordinances

The University Heights City Council on Feb. 10 approved Resolution No. 26-07 authorizing the issuance of $1,500,000 General Obligation Corporate Purpose Bonds, Series 2026, and providing for the levy of taxes to repay them. Council Member Nick Herbold moved the resolution and Council Member Liesa Moore seconded; the motion carried with all five council members voting Aye.
The council also gave first approval to two ordinances. Council Member Doug Swailes moved, and Council Member Mackenzie Dwyer seconded, first approval of Ordinance No. 258, amending Ordinance No. 235 to conform the Community Police Relations Ordinance to recent changes in State law; that motion carried unanimously. Later, Council Member Mackenzie Dwyer moved and Council Member Tim Schroeder seconded first approval of Ordinance No. 259 to reduce the Tree Board from five members to three and set board member terms at three years; the motion carried unanimously.
Votes were recorded as Aye from Council Members Mackenzie Dwyer, Tim Schroeder, Nick Herbold, Doug Swailes and Liesa Moore on the items reported. The motions for the ordinances were first approvals; additional readings or steps are required before final adoption. The bond resolution authorizes issuance now and provides for a tax levy to pay debt service.
