Brandy Jacobson was sworn in as a New Richland city council member at the start of the Sept. 9 meeting, reciting the oath to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Minnesota and to discharge the duties of office.
The council then approved the meeting agenda and moved through the consent agenda, adopting minutes and routine items. The council adopted Resolution 24-18 to fill a vacancy on the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, with the motion seconded and approved by voice vote.
Council members accepted written and oral reports from city departments, including ambulance and fire. The ambulance representative reminded the council of upcoming events and asked the council to adopt minor highlighted updates to the ambulance policy manual reflecting previously approved pay changes; the council approved those policy updates.
The administrator closed the report section with an update on grant activity and other routine business. The meeting proceeded to additional agenda items, including public safety purchasing and a county presentation on ditch redeterminations.
