At the start of the open-call portion, Ryan Saraf asked whether nitrate levels and a water disinfectant he saw in published water reports were naturally occurring. Chair Doba deferred technical detail to Water Services Director Lee.
Lee answered that nitrates noted in reports would be naturally occurring and that the only disinfectant added by the utility is chlorine, which forms hypochlorous acid to prevent waterborne illness. Staff offered to provide follow-up information by email or through the water quality address for more detailed or technical questions. A second speaker, Sophia Murray, had filed a written request; staff deferred her topic to Lee for follow-up.
