The Vincennes City Council on June 22 unanimously approved Resolution 6-2026, an additional-appropriation measure that adds $21,711 to city accounts for parks and city property, and moved several routine financial items forward by unanimous votes.
Council members voted 6-0 to adopt the resolution after the clerk read the measure and confirmed a public hearing had been held. The appropriation sources cited in the resolution were $14,911 from violation-fee supplies and $6,800 from park non-reverting maintenance (city property). The clerk read the resolution as "Resolution 6-2026, additional appropriation resolution, total amount 21,711" and noted a corrected total after reading.
The vote followed the clerk's statement that the public hearing on the measure had been opened and closed with no public speakers. President Grove moved to read and approve the resolution; Councilman Stangle seconded the motion. The council recorded yes votes from Ashby, McNeese, Gornall, Grove, Blinn and Stangle.
In the same meeting the council approved claims totaling $535,962.30 and payroll of $246,362.20. President Grove moved, and Councilman Ashby seconded, both motions; each passed by a 6-0 roll-call vote.
Council members also approved an intra-budget transfer of $2,100 from electric (line item 101-3510) to legal professional services to cover an exhausted legal-services line. President Grove moved the transfer and Councilman Ashby seconded. During discussion a council member asked whether costs had risen or whether the city was using legal services more; the response was that the legal line had been exhausted and that money had previously been moved into the clerk's office budget, and the council indicated the matter would be addressed in next year's budget planning. The transfer passed 6-0.
Earlier in the meeting the council amended its agenda to remove two old-business ordinances (Ordinance 12-2026 and Ordinance 13-2026) because the area plan hearing had not occurred; that amendment also passed 6-0. The council approved minutes from its June 8 meeting and conducted routine roll call and opening ceremonies.
At the end of the meeting a council member said they would present a PowerPoint at the next meeting about a recent trip; they noted that Vincennes, France, has developed a neighborhood park dedicated in honor of Vincennes, Indiana, and mentioned visits to Schott headquarters in Germany and attendance at a battery-show conference. The meeting adjourned shortly after a brief public-comment exchange.
