Villisca board approves coach hire, coordinator appointments and early-retirement benefits

The Villisca Community School District board on Nov. 14 approved several personnel actions, including the hiring of Kassi Sheeder as junior high girls basketball coach and the appointment of district compliance and program coordinators.
MOTION by Richard Mullen, second by Shipley approved Kassi Sheeder as junior high girls basketball coach for the 2024–2025 school year; the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved Liz Timmerman as district 504 coordinator, Lisa Kernen as district special education coordinator, and Chris Fenster as district equity coordinator for 2024–2025 in separate unanimous motions.
Directors also approved an early-retirement benefits package for certified staff for the 2024–2025 school year. The minutes record the package as presented; the board took the vote by motion and carried it unanimously. The board approved three open-enrollment out requests — one student to Clarinda, one to Shenandoah and one to Stanton — and set its regular meeting schedule for the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Southwest Valley Middle School board room.
