Council approves conditional use permit for watchman’s quarters and agrees to Teamsters MOU amendment

Under Personnel & Planning and Zoning, the council acted (M/S Hansen/Wilkening) to adopt the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustments recommendation to grant Land Use Application 2026-04, authorizing watchman’s quarters at 7981 Townhall Road NW subject to the findings of fact and conditions listed in the staff report; roll call vote was 5-0. The minutes record that the Planning Commission/Board of Adjustments recommended approval and that the council accepted that recommendation.
The council also approved (M/S Hansen/Worth) a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Walker and Teamsters General Local Union No. 346 amending Article 5, Section D, which changes the length of the probationary period; the motion passed 5-0. The council took no immediate additional action on the WHA School District street vacation request; staff will await a Planning Commission/Board of Adjustments determination on a related parking-variance request before further processing.
