Walker council approves consent agenda, authorizes major project payments

The Walker City Council on May 4 approved its consent agenda and cleared a slate of payments and administrative items, directing city staff to proceed with the West Side Project and related contracts.

The council voted (M/S Hansen/Granberg) to approve consent items 1–35, passing the motion by roll call 5-0. The consent agenda included claims and drafts of board minutes, licenses and permits, and a series of vendor invoices and contract payments. Notable approvals included claims totaling $491,990.28; payment of $13,528.87 to Tyler Technologies for accounting and water-billing software; a $42,020 contract to American Engineering Testing for material sampling and testing on the West Side Project; $103,312 to the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust for liability insurance for May 2026–May 2027; and Application for Payment No. 1 for $87,060.85 to Kuechle Underground, Inc. for West Side Project work through May 1, 2026.

Separately under Budget, Administration & Public Works, the council approved three ordinances amending the Walker City Code—Ordinances 2026-04, 2026-05 and 2026-06—each on unanimous roll call votes (M/S Wilkening/Worth). The minutes do not specify the text of those code changes.

The consent action also included nonfinancial items: review and filing of zoning and advisory board minutes, appointment of Amie Ysteboe to the Park Advisory Board (Shingobee Township seat), and approval of various park and event permits. Administrator Hope Fairchild noted that weekly West Side Project meetings are being held at the Walker Public Library to track progress.

The council took no separate public hearings at the meeting and adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
