Ardmore Avenue Community Center nearing substantial completion, staff say

Donna Heller told commissioners the Ardmore Avenue Community Center is projected to reach substantial completion in early January 2027 with final completion expected Feb. 1, 2027; staff also reported completion or near-completion of several parks, trail and stormwater projects.
Donna Heller, Director of Parks and Recreation, told the board the Ardmore Avenue Community Center is on a schedule that projects substantial completion in early January 2027 and final completion on February 1, 2027. "Substantial completion means we can utilize the building, so we should be able to move in and start functioning, with the punch list items through January finishing up February 1 as the projected schedule," she said.
Paul McElhenney highlighted completed 2026 items such as Keyscan phase 6, the Ardmore Library window restoration, Parking Lot 23 reconstruction, the Parkside Kimwood Trail, Ashbridge House renovation and Gladwin Park playground replacement, and reported rotomilling/paving nearing finish with a remaining section scheduled on Montgomery Avenue in Ballad Kinwood to be done at night. He also summarized ongoing stormwater and MS4 streambank restorations and pump-station upgrades.
Commissioners asked about maintenance of the adjacent baseball field (item 6090) and Donna said the contractor currently controls mowing but the township anticipates the field being returned to township maintenance in the fall. Donna also confirmed Warner Avenue and Penwin parks are bundled for design in 2027 and construction in 2028 and that community study groups will participate in playground design.
The board thanked staff for their work and Ernie said staff will refine estimates and return an updated draft CIP in November.
