The Rose Creek City Council on May 5 approved repairs to the City Hall/Fire Department steel roof, granted several property-permit requests and postponed hiring summer help for public-works duties.
Bar T Construction submitted an estimate of $2,100 to tighten or replace screws on the steel roof and $400 to shim trusses; Maverick provided a separate estimate of $8,000. Council Member Thomas Lewison moved to approve Bar T Construction’s $2,100 repair and $400 for truss work; Council Member Mark Conradt seconded, and Mayor Andrew Leisen approved the motion.
The council discussed summer help for mowing and painting; two applicants were identified but several council members said the public-works learning curve counselled against hiring now. The council chose not to hire summer help and suggested some council members could assist temporarily.
Permit actions included a conditional approval for Vanessa Jennings’s fence permit for temporary cow-panel material placed for child-safety near Highway 56; the council required the temporary material to be removed or replaced with appropriate fencing before May 1, 2026. Wendel Sprung’s request for two small fence additions between his shop and home was approved with Sprung abstaining from the vote. The council also approved a wooden front deck permit for Brad and Kim Ross at 200 Oak St E with the dimensions specified in the record.
Clerk/Treasurer Allas recorded motions to pay invoices and adjourn at 8:42 p.m.
