Rose Creek council approves $74,707 crack-repair and chip-seal contract with Bargen Inc.

Josh Englar of Bargen Inc. presented the company’s quote at the meeting; Council Member Andrew Felten moved to accept Bargen’s #1 crack-repair bid of $26,424.30 and #1 chip-seal bid of $48,283.32. The motion was seconded by Council Member Thomas Lewison and approved by Mayor Andrew Leisen. City Clerk/Treasurer Kristine Allas was directed to notify Bargen Inc.
Council also approved ordering rock “as last year” and authorized grading contingent on coordination with Pell. Mayor Andrew Leisen asked Bargen Inc. and Mower County Highway Department to provide estimates that would add 5th Street near the church to the project list.
The council discussed replacement and regulatory signage, noting an estimated cost range of $3,200–$4,500 for reflective, durable stop and weight-restriction signs; no final purchase motion for signs was recorded. Council members also identified roughly five dead ash trees and other limbs near roads and residences that need attention.
The contract approvals were procedural motions recorded in the meeting minutes; the council did not attach a separate funding ordinance or indicate use of a specific grant source in the record.
The council’s next procedural step was to notify Bargen Inc. and request additional estimates for 5th Street work.
