Northland Community Schools board sets levy, approves contracts, multiple policy updates and hires

At its Sept. 10 meeting, the Northland Community Schools (ISD #118) board unanimously set the 2025 proposed levy at the maximum, scheduled the Truth in Taxation hearing for Dec. 10, 2025, approved a services agreement with Interquest Detection Canines, multiple policy revisions, curriculum approvals and several personnel hires. All recorded motions passed 6–0 with one member absent.
The Northland Community Schools (ISD #118) school board met Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Northland High School in Remer and conducted a series of unanimous approvals on district finance, contracts, policy revisions and personnel.
The board set the districtproposed levy limitation for 2025, payable in 2026, at the maximum permitted and scheduled the Truth in Taxation hearing for Dec. 10, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. The motion to set the levy was made by Aaron Ammerman and seconded by Linda Knox and passed with six yeas and one absence (Marc Ruyak).
The board approved a 2025-2026 Agreement for Services with Interquest Detection Canines to provide detection-dog services for the district. The motion was made by Tyler Seifert and seconded by Aaron Ammerman and passed unanimously (6 yeas, 1 absent).
Other contract and program approvals included a contract with Hill City for English Learner services and a cooperative sponsorship agreement among Northland, Deer River and Hill City schools for cross country and track and field. Those motions were carried unanimously following standard mover/second procedure recorded in the minutes.
Administrators presented and the board approved the updated Teacher Development Plan for 2025
