Director Chris Pavini told the board on Jan. 14 that the police department has hired Isaiah Gore as a records clerk; Gore will work weekend night shifts and is a Stone Park resident who said he is interested in a future career as a police officer.
Pavini presented a six‑month police activity report covering July 1–Dec. 31, 2024, and reported that Sgt. Numanaj has applied for Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants. Pavini said the village now qualifies for the COPS program because it currently employs 13 full‑time officers; he estimated the grant application and review process will take about six months and said he initiated the process to prevent gaps when officers retire.
Pavini also reported he received a notification from Ford affecting village trucks from model years 2020–2023 that requires engine replacement; he said the village will schedule work in phases because all trucks cannot be taken out of service at once.
Pavini added that Commander Sarabia has a new assignment and will provide a report outlining his vision for the Stone Park Police Department; that report is due Feb. 6, 2025.
No formal motions or votes related to police staffing or the grant application were recorded in the minutes; Pavini indicated follow‑up reporting will be provided to the board.
