Stone Park board reviews pavilion upgrades and approves vehicle‑sticker fee increase

Trustees at the Village of Stone Park Board meeting on Jan. 14 discussed plans to hire DesignBridge for add‑ons to the pavilion at the Stone Park Sports/Entertainment Complex and reviewed proposed pavilion rental fees.
Trustee Loretta J. Teets said the DesignBridge proposal would allow the village to move forward with bids for pavilion upgrades. Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla said the village will need authority to proceed to obtain bids but that he is unsure whether the pavilion will be immediately ready for rental because repairs are required to bring the building up to code.
Office Manager Aracely Gutierrez presented a preliminary pavilion flyer and fee schedule and noted that, by word of mouth, the pavilion appears booked through August. The board discussed the village’s limited police staffing and asked staff to explore private security options for pavilion events.
On a separate administrative item, the board approved, by show of hands, a revised vehicle‑sticker fee structure for households with five or more cars after Gutierrez presented analysis of vehicle‑sticker usage and enforcement considerations. The office reported 143 building permits processed in 2024, 109 passports (about 20% of residents), and increased uptake of emailed water bills (57 in May to 164 in December). The board agreed the office should finalize the pavilion flyer and make the hotline and rental information available to residents.
