Zoning officer reports ongoing Cherokee Campground violations; mobile-home park addressing underway

Zoning and Codes Enforcement Officer and Public Works Director Glenn Kelso reported to the Dickinson Township Board of Supervisors on July 17 that staff continue to address violations at Cherokee Campground and are working to determine the number of campsites and to confirm septic-system details with the SEO. Kelso said the campground owner has begun eviction proceedings and that there had been full-time residents on site.
Manager Larry Barrick told the Board he and Kelso attended court related to an auto-accident matter at Pine School Road and Route 34; Barrick said Kelso "testified very well" and that the Township was removed as a defendant in that proceeding.
Kelso also reported he has begun updating addressing for mobile-home parks. He said the mobile-home park on Pine Road has been notified of address changes and that two additional mobile-home parks are in the addressing-update queue, with completion expected by the end of the year.
Supervisor Rob Kole commended Assistant Zoning & Codes Enforcement Officer Brandon Brookens for his work at his first Zoning Hearing Board hearing.
The Board did not take formal enforcement votes during the meeting; Kelso’s report recorded staff actions and next steps (septic information forwarded to the SEO, ongoing violation remediation, and confirmation of campsite counts).
