Commission defers Kenosha Car Wash facade remodel for signage, materials

The City Plan Commission on June 4 deferred consideration of a conditional use permit amendment for a facade remodel at 2918 Washington Road after commissioners requested clearer signage plans and material samples. Architect Gabe Remitz said he revised elevations, modified roof lines and updated landscaping in response to prior feedback.
Remitz told the commission the design team softened roof materials, added vertical metal composite accents and plans to infill certain windows with painted block to match the existing building. "We have taken some of your previous feedback, revised elevations, modified roof lines, materials, updated landscaping plans to address a lot of the feedback," he said.
Commissioners asked for additional details on signage, material samples for columns and clarifications on landscaping and future phases (the applicant referenced potential future detached development on the corner). One commissioner said he would like the applicant to bring material boards and clearer signage drawings; another suggested a 30‑day deferral to allow staff to include the item on the next packet or the next available meeting. The motion to defer up to 30 days carried by voice vote.
