Community garden coordinator asks town for truck/trailer help to collect compost

Rapp said the garden already has volunteers and early plantings that will supply the pantry with lettuce, turnips, radishes and other crops in the coming month. He said Seed to Feed — the organization that supports the garden — appears financially stable this year so the garden will not need to rely on park board funding beyond water coverage.
Rapp asked whether parks staff could provide a dump trailer or town vehicle to collect multiple loads of composted manure at Loveway Inc., a local horse farm. He estimated a single run would take 20–30 minutes round trip, offered to help clean equipment afterwards, and said the Loveway representative can accommodate short‑notice pick ups (one hour heads up during business hours). Parks staff (Eric) agreed to coordinate and suggested giving them a day’s notice so the town crew can schedule the run when it is not busy.
The board also discussed volunteer recruitment and strengthening outreach (text messages, Facebook, the Hub) for garden workdays starting Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.
Next steps: Rapp will do an initial pickup to test logistics and then coordinate with Eric to schedule town vehicle/trailer assistance when needed.
