Kathy Albert of the Kewanee Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) delivered the semiannual report to the council, saying the agency helped start four new businesses in 2018 and is working with two existing businesses on expansion.
Albert said a furniture store will open soon on West Second Street and staff recently met to discuss a proposed solar farm. She also said planning is under way for the upcoming Prairie Chicken Festival.
Council took the report as informational; no formal action was recorded on the item in the minutes.
