Fire Chief Joe Hahn reported to the Walcott City Council on Jan. 5 that the department responded to 379 calls in 2025 and summarized current volunteer staffing.
Chief Hahn noted that the fire-department meeting room has been available to local Walcott community organizations, but said additional (non-Walcott) groups have requested use of the space. He asked whether the city should charge a fee to non-Walcott organizations for room use. Council directed Hahn to contact other communities about their policies for similar facilities and return with information at a later meeting. Council Member Lisa Mengler referenced a recent structure fire and expressed thanks to the department's volunteers for their service.
No formal motion or vote on a fee policy was taken; the item was continued as a staff follow-up assignment.
