Walcott council approves consent agenda, financial reports and DOT road maintenance agreement

The Walcott City Council on Jan. 19 approved its consent agenda, which included vendor invoices, Jan. 5 minutes, December 2025 financial reports, and renewals of Class C retail alcohol licenses for Iowa Trucking Company — doing business as Grammas Kitchen and The Checkered Flag Bar & Grill. Councilmembers voted in favor (Mengler, Bieri, Koberg, Martinez and new appointee Quick); there were no nays.
The consent agenda also included Resolution 2026-6, authorizing an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for maintenance and repair of primary roads within the city. The council approved that resolution as part of the consent vote.
The meeting packet showed a grand total of expenditures of $81,376.48 across funds, with fund totals including $44,034.32 (General), $36,434.96 (Water Utility) and other fund balances. The clerk reported total December revenue of $228,961.79.
Clerk Lisa Rickertsen presented the FYE 2025 annual examination report from the State Auditor's Office and said there were no exceptions noted; council thanked staff for another clean financial exam. Rickertsen also presented the city's Investment Policy (review required at least every three years); council voted to keep the policy unchanged. A FYE 2027 budget workshop was scheduled for Feb. 3 at 5:00 p.m.
The council's routine approvals keep the city's financial operations on schedule and authorize the DOT maintenance agreement that will guide primary-road work within Walcott.
