Toledo council unanimously approves pay increases for EMS staff

The Toledo City Council voted Jan. 27 to raise pay for EMS personnel, approving immediate and July 1, 2025 increases for five positions after a request from EMS Director Greg Johnson.
Greg Johnson, EMS director, asked the council Jan. 27 to approve immediate and later increases for Toledo Emergency Medical Services staff to bring local pay closer to area rates. Councilmember Boll moved to approve the package of raises; Councilmember Goodhart seconded, and all present voted aye.
The increases approved were: Jesse Brown to $58,000 annually effective Jan. 27, 2025, and $59,750 annually as of July 1, 2025; Delrae Hennessy to $27.06 per hour immediately and $27.88 per hour on July 1; Rhonda Staker to $22.50 per hour immediately and $23.50 on July 1; Jimmy Hicklin to $25.00 per hour immediately and $25.75 on July 1; and new hire Chris Moore to start at $25.00 per hour.
Council action followed a formal motion and voice vote; the minutes record no nays. The authorization instructs city payroll and human-resources processes to implement the new rates and reflects the council's direction that pay adjustments begin immediately where specified and that the July 1 increases take effect as approved.
The vote was taken during the regular council meeting before the council moved into a budget work session; the clerk will record the approved salary changes in personnel and payroll records.
