Taylor Newton, CCRPC planning manager, told the committee that the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation is required to submit a draft Regional Priority Project list and staff met with GBIC representatives to score applications. “We currently have a draft list of 18 projects,” Newton said.
The draft list includes projects such as the South Burlington High Service Area Water Storage Tank, Essex Town Center waterline, Winooski Main Street improvements, Hinesburg water supply, Burlington South End transit center (parking garage, housing, childcare), Winooski community center, South Burlington Walk Bike Bridge, Burlington Perkins Pier redevelopment, and Shelburne Village infill infrastructure.
Newton explained the three-step process: regional solicitation and input, regional scoring and prioritization, and consolidation of the top ten regional projects into a statewide list to be submitted to the Agency of Commerce. The list is intended to help funding organizations prioritize construction projects that support workforce development, job creation and retention.
Members discussed eligibility and scoring criteria and recommended staff continue work to finalize regional rankings and the top-ten submission.
