Harmony EDA approves February minutes; discusses loan software, chamber activities and a business prospect

The Harmony Economic Development Authority opened its March 2 meeting at 7:30 AM; the board unanimously approved the February 2, 2023 minutes on a motion by Michael Himlie and a second by Kerry Kingsley.
Staff member Chris Giesen reported that the loan portfolio is current and there were no payment claims. Giesen suggested the EDA consider upgrading to specialized loan software to improve efficiency and reduce entry errors; Andy Batstone asked that any new system include robust reporting features so the clerk can review the entire portfolio without duplicating efforts. The board gave consensus to investigate software options further.
Erica Thilges delivered the Chamber of Commerce report, saying the chamber is producing a tourism map to supplement the visitor guide, coordinating a career-exploration day with the school district, and that a CEDA marketing class held at Harmony Spirits drew 71 registrants. Giesen said a construction firm intends to submit a purchase agreement for a 2.4-acre industrial-park lot to build a headquarters and shop; he expected the offer to be ready for review at the April meeting.
With no other business, Chair Kerry Kingsley adjourned the meeting at 9:00 AM. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 6, 2023 at 7:30 AM at the Community Center.
