EDA recommends city authorize exploratory committee to coordinate village-green refresh

The Harmony Economic Development Authority voted on Feb. 2 to recommend that the city council consider authorizing an exploratory advisory committee to preliminarily discuss a coordinated refresh of the village-green area.
Chris Giesen described preliminary conversations with the historical society and the chamber of commerce about coordinating work on the elevator, visitors center, village green, trailhead, parking and downtown amenities. He said stakeholders had indicated interest and that a coordinated, multi-year approach could be more attractive for outside funding. Board member Michael Himlie moved the recommendation, Greg Schieber seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
EDA members noted the idea is in an early stage: Giesen emphasized the discussion was preliminary and meant to gauge interest before spending staff or board time on detailed planning. Schieber volunteered to serve on any advisory committee that might form. The recommendation asks the city council to authorize an exploratory committee; it does not direct funding or approve specific design or construction work.
